Zebra Mussel Verification Form 2025
As a resident of Lake Waukomis, I acknowledge that our community wants to avoid the negative impacts associated with zebra mussels. If our lake becomes infested, some of the consequences may include costly repairs, potential decrease in property value and potential increase in taxes and fees, risk of injury, and disruption of the eco-system of the lake. I understand that zebra mussels are spread when the mussels or their larvae are present on boats or equipment that are moved from one body of water to another. Since the eggs and larvae are microscopic, they can be transferred to a lake without the owner of the equipment being aware that they are there.
I have been provided training/education about ways to prevent the introduction of zebra mussels into Lake Waukomis. Some of these methods include:
a. Don't use my equipment in other lakes, streams, or other bodies of water.
b. Don't allow my guests to bring equipment into the lake. Educate my guests about Zebra Mussel Prevention.
c. If I have any equipment that has been used outside of Lake Waukomis, make sure that it has been drained and cleaned outside of our watershed, it is thoroughly dried, and that it is kept out of our lake water until it has dried for the specified amount of time. A chart of time is available in the Zebra Mussel Regulations.
d. If I wish to transfer dock equipment, or any motorized boat to Lake Waukomis from another body of water, I will have it inspected (and quarantined if necessary) by an authorized association member prior to placing it on the lake.
I acknowledge that I have completed the Lake Waukomis Zebra Mussel Prevention Training. I agree to ensure that my family members will be educated about Zebra Mussel prevention, and that my household and any of my guests who use the lake will be in compliance with these procedures.
I have registered the following :
